City Manager's Report:  Lakeport Police Welcome New Lieutenant and Downtown Retail Enhancement Workshop

City Manager’s Report September 17, 2019

Downtown Retail Enhancement Workshop Let’s Work Together!

Building on work being conducted by The Retail Coach, the City of Lakeport is inviting business owners and managers to participate in a workshop to address zoning ordinance guidelines with short-term solutions for signs in the downtown Central Business (CB) district.

We are offering two opportunities for you to attend discussions on Wednesday, October 2, 10:00-11:00 a.m. and 5:00-6:00 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 225 Park Street, Lakeport.

City staff will review the current guidelines that address signage and work with you to identify long-term goals for retail businesses to become more visible and attractive to shoppers. If you are unfamiliar with the sign ordinance and how it applies to your business, this will be a chance to ask questions and receive information.

Please contact Bonnie Sharp in the Community Development Department, 263-5615, ext. 205, or bsharp@cityoflakeport.com, for more details.

Lakeport Police Welcome New Lieutenant

Congratulations to Detective Dale Stoebe on his promotion to Police Lieutenant. Dale will serve as the second in command of the Lakeport Police Department (LPD), running the operations and managing several programs as well as providing leadership to officers and supervisors for the agency, which has 13 sworn personnel.

Dale has nearly 29 years of law enforcement experience with the LPD, starting as a Reserve Officer in December 1990 and serving in that capacity until being hired as a police officer in March 1993. He has worked in patrol and as a School Resource Officer for the Lakeport Unified School District with eight years as a Sergeant and 10 years as a Detective.

As an Investigator and Detective Dale has been assigned to complex narcotic cases as part of the former Lake County Interagency Narcotic Task Force, as well as to the majority of the most complex crimes occurring within our city, including sex crimes, financial crimes, computer crimes, burglaries, serious assaults and homicide.

Lieutenant Dale Stoebe

During the course of his career, Dale has amassed over 3,000 hours through the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, or POST, and hundreds more hours in other non-POST training in all areas of law enforcement and investigations.

Dale is assuming the position previously held by the department’s longtime lieutenant, Jason Ferguson, who left in July to become the Chief of Police in Cloverdale.

“Dale will be an asset to and enhance the administration of the police department as well as the city and we welcome him to his new position,” stated Chief Brad Rasmussen at the swearing-in ceremony on September 12 at Lakeport City Hall.
