The City of Lakeport requires every business operating within the City limits to obtain a business license.  To apply for a new or renew your City Business License go to our portal lakeportca.portal.opengov.com

General Business License classifications are found below. 

Annual Business License Inside City - is for persons doing more than two (2) jobs a year within the city limits and has a business address inside the city limits of Lakeport.  If you apply for a license after July, the fee will be pro-rated.  Annual Business License fees range from $14 to $154, in addition a $10 per employee that works within the city limits, not including the owners.

One-time Business License - is for anyone who works within the city limits only 1-2 times within a fiscal year (July to June).  The license is valid for only one (1) job/project and is not to exceed thirty (30) days.  A maximum of two (2) One-time Business Licenses may be issued to an individual per fiscal year.  *Businesses participating in Special Community Events (i.e. Dickens Fair, car shows, craft fairs, etc.) may obtain more than two (2) one-time business licenses per fiscal year.

Home Occupation Business License - is any business occupation conducted within a dwelling by a person(s) residing in that dwelling unit which is clearly incidental and secondary to the residential use of that dwelling.  Home Occupations shall be subject to the issuance of a Zoning Permit in accordance with Section 17.22.10 and 17.22.020 of the Lakeport Municipal Code.  There is a one-time fee due at the time of submittal, in addition to the Annual License Fee.  If you relocate to another dwelling within the city limits of Lakeport, it would require a new home occupation to be submitted and additional fees paid.  *To apply for a Home Occupation Business License utilize the Annual Business License Inside City option.

Business Commercial Recycling Requirements

A business (including public entities) that generates four cubic yards or more of commercial solid waste per week or is a multifamily residential dwelling of five units or more shall arrange for recycling services. Businesses can take one or any combination of the following  in order to reuse, recycle, compost or otherwise divert solid waste from disposal:

  • Self-haul.
  • Subscribe to a hauler. Lakeport's franchised waste hauler is Lakeport Disposal.
  • Arrange for the pickup of recyclable materials.
  • Subscribe to a recycling service that may include mixed waste processing that yields diversion results comparable to source separation.
