Ann Blue Walking Path

The Lakeport City Council at its November 3 meeting approved the naming of its downtown walking path in honor of Ann Blue and recognized her as a driving force on the Parks and Recreation Commission to develop a designated trail from Library Park to Sixteenth Street and beyond to High Street, serving residents and visitors.

In 2015 The City received a donation of $5,000 from the Sutter Lakeside Active Living Grant program to develop a plan to encourage healthy exercise in the downtown/Library Park area. Members of the Parks and Recreation Commission designed a plan for a walking path, with Ann Blue walking the route many times and bringing her findings to the Commission and City staff.
The walking path was completed this spring with the placement of the last bench and directional medallions along the waterfront. “Ann’s goal was for the walking path to be a living project,” according to Public Works Director Doug Grider, in making the presentation to the Council.

In its Resolution officially naming the “Ann Blue Walking Path,” the Council also recognized Ann for her other community contributions including serving on the Lakeport Planning Commission from 1976 to 1979 and her membership on the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee and the Parks and Recreation Commission from 2011 to 2018.
