Jenni Byers named Community Development Director

Lakeport City Manager Kevin Ingram introduced Jenni Byers as the City’s new Community Development Director at the City Council meeting on September 15.
“With more than 15 years of government experience, Ms. Byers is highly qualified to lead Lakeport’s Community Development Department,” said Ingram. “Her six years as the Community Development Director for the City of Porterville and previous work in the department as an Assistant Planner and Project Manager prepared her to serve our city extremely well.”
Byers succeeds Ingram, who became Lakeport’s City Manager in August after six years as the Community Development Director and, more recently, its first Assistant City Manager.
Byers states she is impressed with the proactive role of the City Council with investing and planning for the future, noting the strong community involvement which was instrumental in the successful Prop 68 grant application to develop the new lakefront park in downtown Lakeport.
The Community Development Department includes planning, building permit issuance, housing, business licensing and code enforcement. Department staff provides support for the city’s Planning Commission.
“We are thrilled that Jenni has the knowledge and experience to support the Council’s goals. Her enthusiasm will be an asset in working with local businesses and residents,” according to Ingram.
