Also Announces Her Resignation from Lakeport City Council
Lake County, CA (August 31, 2022) – At 4:33pm Tuesday, the Lake County Board of Supervisors emerged from Closed Session to appoint Mireya Turner permanent Director of the County’s Community Development Department (CDD), effective immediately.“I am honored and thrilled by the Board’s vote of confidence, in appointing me permanent Director,” shares Turner. “We have an excellent team of qualified and professional staff, and it will be a privilege to continue leading this great group. Lake County residents deserve the best possible public service, and our Department will continue to strive to fulfill that mandate. I am committed to promoting responsible development, and creatively working with people looking to invest in Lake County.”
Turner brings eight years of experience in County and City Planning activities. Most recently, she served as CDD’s Deputy Director and Interim Director (the Interim appointment was made Tuesday, August, 16), following three years of service with the City of Ukiah, all in management and leadership roles. Prior to this work, Turner had served in multiple roles with the County of Lake, including service with the Community Development Department and County Administration. In January of 2013, Turner completed a Master of Public Administration degree.
“Ms. Turner understands the unique needs of Lake County, and has the experience and technical knowledge to help us move forward,” notes Eddie Crandell, Chair of the Lake County Board of Supervisors. “Making her appointment as Director permanent will help bring stability and continued growth to a critical County Department. Turner Steps Down from Lakeport City Council
Accepting this permanent role led to Turner making the very difficult decision to step away from the Lakeport City Council, effective yesterday, August 30. Many County residents will be aware Turner has served as Councilmember since December of 2014, most recently as Mayor Pro Tempore.
“Serving as Community Development Director will require a greater commitment of time and attention than any of my previous roles,” affirms Turner. “The authority vested in this position could present possible conflicts with my elected position; so to avoid that, I must step down from the City Council. It has been a great honor to work with all of my colleagues on the Council, and the tremendous City of Lakeport staff, and I look forward to further opportunities to collaborate in my new role.”
