Important 4th of July "Safe and Sane" Fireworks Information

Safe & Sane Fireworks will be permitted in the City of Lakeport July 1-4. Remember, they are illegal in ALL OTHER PARTS OF THE County of Lake, including the City of Clearlake. Hours of Discharge:
  • July 1, 2022   9 AM - 10:00 PM
  • July 2, 2022   9 AM - 10:00 PM
  • July 3, 2022   9 AM - 10:00 PM
  • July 4, 2022   9 AM - 11:00 PM
On July 4th a safe firework area will be set up at the end of Fourth Street near the lake.  Use of fireworks on private property, such as shopping centers, is ONLY allowed by permission of the property owner.

All discharges of Safe and Sane Fireworks MUST adhere to Lakeport Municipal Code Section 5.30.180, which states:
It shall be unlawful for any person to ignite, discharge, project or otherwise fire or use any safe and sane fireworks, or permit the ignition, discharge or projection thereof, upon or over or onto the property of another without his/her consent, or to ignite, discharge, project or otherwise fire or make use of any safe and sane fireworks within ten feet of any residence, dwelling or other structure used as a place of habitation by human beings.

The sale and use of “safe & sane” fireworks in the Lakeport city limits is allowed because the voters of Lakeport approved ballot Measure C in 2009. The ballot measure was in response to the Lakeport City Council's decision in the spring of 2009 to ban the sale of fireworks.
