Program Information

The City of Lakeport is proud to offer a First Time Home Buyers Program that is the result of a successful grant application coordinated by our Housing Specialist, Trisha Franco.

The City was awarded a $200,000 grant from the California Department of Housing and Community Development HOME Investment Program that will provide the funding for this program which will continue until January 2016 or until the funds have been allocated, whichever comes first.

The goal of the First Time Home Buyers Program is to provide a long term loan (45 years @ 3% interest) to prospective homeowners, up to a maximum of $50,000. Loan payments are deferred for 45 years! The program is intended to assist qualified, low-income households with the purchase of a new home.  The loan will be in the form of a “silent” second mortgage and can provide substantial down-payment assistance to prospective qualified buyers.

To qualify for this program, applicants must have a credit score of no lower than 640 and an annual income of no higher the $45,850 (for a family of four).  If you're looking to live in the beautiful City of Lakeport, have a relatively low income, and are financially responsible, then our First Time Home Buyers Program may be right for you.

To learn more about the program and begin the application process, call Kevin Ingram, Community Development Director, at 707-263-5613 x11, or e-mail him at kingram@cityoflakeport.com.
