Cal-Green Building
Buildings account for one-sixth of the world's fresh water withdrawals, one-quarter of its wood harvest, and two-fifths of its material and energy flows. Sustainable design or building "green" is an opportunity to use our resources efficiently while creating healthier buildings. It provides cost savings to all Californians through improved human health and productivity, lower cost building operations, and resource efficiency--and it moves us closer to a sustainable future.
On January 1, 2014, the 2013 California Green Building Standards Code (CalGreen), and on July 1, 2014, the California Energy Code, became effective throughout California. It was adopted to increase a cleaner and more energy efficient way of building and to recycle construction materials allowing reduction of Construction Waste.
Effective January 1, 2017 Construction Waste Reduction of at least 65% was set in place and plans to reduce Construction waste to 75% will be effective in 2020.
