The City of Lakeport has opportunities for the general public to become involved in local government by serving on local commissions and committees.  If you have an interest in serving your community, applying for a position on a city commission or committee is a great place to start!

The City of Lakeport is accepting applications for the following Commissions & Committees:

  • Parks and Recreation Commission 

These appointments would be effective as of January 1, 2018.

Applications will be accepted until March 5, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. 

The City Council of the City of Lakeport is opening membership to the Parks & Recreation Commission to include one member residing outside the City limits but within the Lakeport zip code.  There are currently three seats open.  If you have an interest in serving your community, applying for a position on a city commission or committee is a great place to start!

This is an opportunity to give input on on-going projects such as the continued expansion of Westside Community Park, the rehabilitation of the Westshore Swimming Pool, the maintenance and operation of Library Park and the Lakefront Park area. 

In addition to these on-going projects, the Parks & Recreation Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council in matters pertaining to City parks and recreation.  They also cooperate with the Planning Commission and civic organizations to advance the sound planning of new recreation areas and facilities. 

The Commission consists of five voting members, at least four who are residents of the city and up to one member who lives outside of the city limits but within the Lakeport zip code area, to be appointed by the city council on the basis of interest and qualification.

The Parks & Recreation Commission meets monthly and the term for membership on this committee is two years.  The appointments will be effective retroactive to January 1, 2018.

A selection advisory committee, made up of two (2) Council Members, will review applications and may interview applicants.  The advisory committee will provide their recommendations to the Council, and appointments will be scheduled for the City Council meeting of March 20, 2018.
