Governor Newsom Appoints Michael Green District 4 Supervisor
Green Will Resign as Lakeport City Council Member
Lake County, CA (October 21, 2022) – Today, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced the appointment of Michael Green as Lake County’s District 4 Supervisor. Pursuant to California Government Code section 25060, et seq., Green’s gubernatorial appointment will be effective through the first Monday after January 1, 2025.
On Tuesday, August 2, the Lake County Board of Supervisors approved a letter seeking action by Governor Newsom to appoint an individual to complete outgoing Supervisor Tina Scott’s remaining elective term:

This followed the Board’s discussion of legal considerations and options to fill the vacancy on July 12:
“The County of Lake is grateful for Governor Newsom’s attention to this important appointment, and we are taking steps to prepare for Mr. Green to be sworn in Tuesday,” reported Susan Parker, County Administrative Officer. “We look forward to Mr. Green’s work benefiting all County residents, and particularly those in District 4, and welcome the opportunity to support him in his new role as Supervisor.”
Green to Resign as Lakeport City Council Member
Residents will be aware, Michael Green has served as elected Council Member for the City of Lakeport since 2020. California law prohibits individuals from concurrently serving as City Councilmember and County Supervisor (Gov. Code Section 1099). Therefore, Green intends to resign from his role with the Council.
"I have had the good fortune to work with Council Member Green for the past several years,” relates Lakeport City Manager, Kevin Ingram. “Prior to his two years on the City Council, Michael was a valued Lakeport Planning Commissioner. Council Member Green is a hard worker. He’s not afraid to have the tough conversations necessary to ensure local policies are effective, and consider the needs of all affected stakeholders. He will be missed by the City of Lakeport, and we are proud he will represent the City as District 4’s new County Supervisor."
City Council to Appoint Michael Green's Successor
Those interested in being considered for appointment to serve as Councilmember on the Lakeport City Council are invited to submit a Councilmember Vacancy Application. The application can be obtained online at www.cityoflakeport.com or at Lakeport City Hall, located at 225 Park Street, Lakeport.
Qualified candidates must reside in Lakeport City limits, be at least 18 years of age, and registered to vote in the City of Lakeport. The five-member City Council serves as the legislative body of the City and is responsible for setting policy, adopting the annual budget, adopting laws, determining services to
be provided and the funding levels, and appointing citizens to its advisory boards and commissions.

Completed applications must be returned to the Office of the City Clerk no later than Monday, November 28, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.
Once the application period has closed, the applications will be distributed to the City Council for review. The City Council will hold interviews for the applicants on December 12 and 13, 2022.
